Welcome to the East of England, the UK’s ideas region. Grounded in the East of England’s great heritage of original thinking and innovation, the next phase of the East of England – space for ideas campaign, supported by the East of England Development Agency (EEDA) looks set to cement its reputation as the UK’s ideas region.  Some of the world’s leading thinkers have been asked for their views about ideas. Where do ideas come from? How do you have them? Which businesses are brilliant at generating them?  Explore this site by clicking here and you’ll find the answers.

The new regional economic strategy (RES) was launched in September 2008.  Inventing our future: collective action for a sustainable economy it sets out the vision for the future of the region to 2031.  The vision is that by 2031 the East of England will be:
  1. internationally competitive with a global reputation for innovation and business growth
  2. a region that harnesses and develops the talents and creativity of all
  3. at the forefront of the low-carbon and resource-efficient economy
To achieve this the strategy sets out bold targets for increasing productivity, skills levels, employment and resource efficiency while reducing inequalities and greenhouse gas emissions.
