Hertfordshire is a thriving county offering one of the finest business environments in the UK as well as significant areas of unspoilt countryside.
Hertfordshire has a population of 1 million living in and around the key towns of Hertford, Hitchin, St Albans, Stevenage and Watford. Over half of Hertfordshire is designated green belt land.
Tourist attractions in Hertfordshire include: Knebworth and Hatfield stately homes, Elstree studios, Lee Valley Park and the historic Roman town of St Albans.
Hertfordshire is well known for its easy access to London - 30 minutes by fast rail link and an excellent motorway network - and is home to many internationally renowned research centres including Merck Sharp & Dohme's Neuroscience Research Centre (NRC), the first major research laboratory to be established by the company outside North America.
Another pharmaceutical giant, GlaxoSmithKline, also boasts several locations throughout Hertfordshire at Stevenage, Ware and Welwyn Garden City.
