Bedfordshire is a mix of traditional towns and rural villages and covers some of the East of England's most attractive areas of natural beauty. Bedfordshire also covers the unitary authority of Luton.

A world-renowned automotive research cluster has been created by Cranfield University and Nissan's European Technology Centre and enhanced by General Motors' research centre at Millbrook Proving Ground. The East of England's automotive sector is further strengthened by key industry players such as Ford, Lotus, Lola Cars, Pi and TWI who are spread around the region to take advantage of strategic facilities and alliances.
